What great fun we had at the Souper Saturday event in Beckley. The drum circle you hosted was informative and a wonderfully unique experience in southern West Virginia. Your dedication to your students is evident in their musicianship and poise. Praying for you and your students that you all are able to realize your musical dream! We need more teachers like you!

Jeremy, To the senior who initiated me at Winfield HS, as a freshman. I was your chosen one that night at camp...you were the one who stood over top of me, making me push my way across that football field, with the heels of my feet only!! I can say, your diligent nature made a lasting impression on me, to NEVER give up!! My mom told me not to quit, when I was in tears, in the dark & it took me what seemed like hours, you told me not to quit, that. "I would understand some day". Well, I do & believe you are so very deserving of this!! Good luck, we aren't giving up on ya!!

Rod is one of the best music teachers I have ever seen in a very long time, the influence he has on his students is remarkable and something they always carry with them through life and not forgotten. May the Lord continue to Bless You Rod, and keep up the great work!

Rod was not only a teacher to me, but a second father. He was there when I truly needed someone and no one else was. Though I have since graduated, the life lessons and inspiration that he left with me carries on into my adulthood, and I honestly believe I would not have gotten so far had he not believed in me. I love this man! You truly deserve this!

Jeremy, it's an honor to work, play and be apart of what you do for our school. You are an inspiration to not only the students but the staff as well. Our school has been blessed in many ways. Several years ago we set goals for our students that graduate. Your inspiration and leadership vaulted many of our students to new heights. Experiences received here at LHS have led graduates to move on to college.and graduate!
No other person could have persuaded me to play a guitar in front of a crowd. What fun ( IN LOCO PARENTIS).

As a former student of Mr. Rodriguez, I've seen, firsthand, the difference he makes in students' lives. During my senior year, Rod helped my friends and I set up the best student section that Liberty had seen in quite a while. He helped us breathe new life into school spirit and leave a legacy. He inspires, motivates, and challenges students to be all that they can be, but, most importantly, he believes in them. I believe in Liberty High School and I love it!

I've known Jeremy since the early 90's. He has always been a true advocate for the student. He is selfless and very likely would not care about the prestige of this award at all other than the prospect of it bringing funding and accolades to his students. I have been a personal witness to selfless acts that nearly no one recognized. Jeremy has a unique gift - he genuinely thinks YOUR talents and potential are awesome, and YOU feel like he admires you. Every person, but especially every student would be lucky to have a Jeremy Rodriquez in their life.

Mr. Rodriguez sincerely is such a great man! He helped make my senior year, 2011, one of the most memorable for all the students in attendance that year. I missed the opportunity to take a class from him, but it was obvious that he genuinely loved what he was doing and was good at it. He encouraged every student - not just those in his classes - to strive to be their best, make the best of every situation, and to do the same for others. In just one year, he left an impact on my life that I will always carry with me: the drive to be what I dream of. I know he has done the same for so many others. The dedication this man has for every single person at LHS is remarkable. I am more than grateful to have had his help and wisdom. I believe in Liberty High School, and I love it.

I have to say before I came into Mr. Rodriguez's class I always got really nervous in front of people that I didn't know. It has been only 6 weeks since I first entered his class. I can't believe how much I have came out of my shell so far! Now, when I get in front of people, it's like they are not even there and I don't get nervous like I use to. It is all because of Mr. Rodiguez. He is different than most teachers by far. He cares truly about his students and looks forward to them success. He has showed me a lot! There is no better nominee than him.

Hate to sound like everyone here, but you are an inspiration to teachers and students alike. I can't pour my heart out on demand, but I can say how you've affected me. I've never really looked ahead towards college and have mini heart attacks at the thought, however, I am now much more interested in music and am considering a career in music or "the arts". I know this isn't the best comment on here, but I still hope you win! You deserve it.

I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for myself and the rest of Liberty High School. You have made an extremely large impact on the way our students perform in the classroom and even out of the classroom. Its been a great honor to participate in your theatre class for these past three years and its an even greater priviledge to attend the same college where you earned your degree. Without you, my life and the lives of many students wouldn't be the same. Thank you so very much for being the kind of teacher that changes lives for the better.

P.S. I believe in Liberty HIgh School and I love it

I not really good at writing long and heartfelt messages, but you changed my out look on life. You took a shy me, and turned me into my outgoing self I am today. You taught me to lead when I thought I can barley even follow. I seen you help out so many people with problems from day to day life to help a senior with college. You have gave me values that will stick with me for the rest of my life and one day hoping that I will teach to a younger generation. I am proud to be in Mr Rodriguez's class room and band and I am looking forward to another two years of being here.

Before I came into your class two years ago I was shy, and I would have never got up and talked in front of other people. Your class has dramatically changed my life. Now I have very little fear of getting up in front of people and talking, and I am more outgoing and courageous because of some of the thing you have helped me get through from my first monolog to the last performance we did in your class. Before you class I had a very low self esteem I always worried what people thought about me and now after two years in your class it is exactly the opposite, my self esteem shot through the roof. Now I am striving to get good grades and do good thing.

As a mother of a child with a disability I am grateful for Mr. Rodriguez and his willingness to work with my son. He not only wants Luke in his classroom but makes his disability unnoticeable by his efforts of inclusion. In fact he encouraged me to speak before his class to help the classmates to understand Luke's world and how he is very much like all other teenagers just does a few things differently than them. Mr. Rodriguez also attends the our meetings discussing Luke's goals and accomplishments, he is truly an asset to Liberty High School! He also included Luke in field trips and outings, this is what inclusion is all about, thanks again Mr. Rodriguez!

You never try to be recognized, instead helping your students to shine, but the man behind the inspiration, motivation, love, and sense of family in Liberty High School should have his shining moment as our mentor and our teacher.
Good luck, Rod.
